What will I write about?

It can rather daunting to contemplate writing several posts a week for your blog. What you write will be closely related to your business product or service and the aim of your blog.

My blog exists to promote my website about travel in Europe. That gives me a pretty wide pool of potential material. I regulary do searches for articles related to travel in Europe, which may be newspapaper or magazine articles or other travel blogs. If I write a post I will always insert a link to the source and then write my perspective on what is contained in that story or post and ask readers for their comments. I also write about places I’ve visited, perhaps a museum, a restuarant, accommodation where I’ve stayed.

As I’ve had my travel website for almost five years I try to refer and add links to destination guides on the site. You should try to encourage and facilitate as many readers as possible to specific pages in your website so that they can find out more about your products/services and go on to make a purchase.

You have to try to do this discreetly. No readers will bother to continue reading your blog if it is a blatant vehicle for selling your product/service. The blog has to be interesting, informative and entertaining to the reader so they want to read your blog regularly but the blog also has to fulfil its potential to boost your business. It is a bit of balancing act!
